Brocade VDX VCS Fabric
General
- vcsid must match on all switches
- rbridge-id must be unique on all switches
- firmware version should match
- virtual-fabric must match on all switches
- isl must be enabled on ports linking switches
- Layer 2 is configured across the entire fabric
- Layer 3 is unique to each route bridge (switch)
Replace failed switch in existing fabric
On Replacement Switch
- # show vcs ← Obtain replacement switch WWN
- # firmware download interactive ← FTP information, IP, folder, user, pass
- # license add licstr “xxx” ← Works best if you copy and paste the entire line
On Existing Fabric
- show version
- show vcs
- vcs replace rbridge-id 1 ← replacement switch WWN
Physically replace switch power on replacement switch
On Replacement Switch
- # vcs rbridge-id 1 vcsid 1 logical-chassis enable
- # conf t
- (config) # vcs virtual-fabric enable
- (config) # exit
- # show vcs
- # show fabric isl
- # show fabric islports
